Durable long-lasting Patio Furniture?

By admin | April 28, 2007

JB asked:

What type of patio furniture is durable and long-lasting in all seasons of weather? Oh, and easy to clean!

Cast Aluminum?
Aluminum?
Wrought Iron?
Wicker?
Wood?

We live in the mid-west and want to purchase a set that will last a long time.

Aluminium will not rust. Cast Aluminium breaks sometimes. Aluminium can be made comfortable with the right cushions but can be hot in the sun. Wood just depends on the type of wood. All weather wicker is nice but sometimes they can break because it’s plastic basically and can be effected by heat and cold.

There is a new composite material I’ve seen on HGTV. It looks like wood, but it lasts longer and is a “green” product. I have no idea how it compares price wise, but what I have seen looked sturdy and attractive. (Google composite furniture and there are a number of sites.)
