How do I stop by 7month old cat from chewing carpet and wicker furniture?

He is a very sweet, declawed cat, but has started biting/scratching (ruining) my wicker furniture, and also chewing up my frazee carpet. At night i shut him in his “bedroom” (with food & literbox, but away from my bedroom because of his constant meowing/desire to sleep on my head) and he has absolutely ruined my new carpet under the door to get out of the room. Is there anything i can spray on furniture/carpet so he won’t want to taste it anymore? I’m afraid he’s going to ruin my house!

give hims a a toy the feels the same that he is chewing on. It’s just cause he is teething and that how they deal with the pain

give him some extra toys. Cats at that age are very energetic and playful. they are also teething and exploring. they need lots of stimulation and attention. Sometimes a second cat fills that void if you dont have enough time. Two cats keep each other entertained. Give him kitty treats and kitty toys designed to exercise and keep him occupied. They love brown paper bags to climb in and make noise. If you are still insistant on products to spray on furniture , Petsmart has some variety. But I would be careful because cats have allergies too. Kittens will gradually grow out of this stage and calm down and grow into cats that will eventually ignore you. Enjoy it while it lasts.
