I have an old wicker set given to us that needs to be cleaned. How do you clean wicker?

It is a very wide weave, not the common skinny wicker you see that looks shelacked. This looks more vinelike and probably the finish has worn off. It is very sturdy and heavy, so it is a good set. We tried using water and bleach but it didn’t do much.
